Welcome to the 56th Annual Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT)! CAMT 2009 will be held in Houston, Texas- the nation’s fourth largest city which over 2 million people call home and a hub for international businesses. In Houston, we have a great tradition of being a place of firsts and futuristic endeavors. “Houston” was the first word spoken from the surface of the moon and as we meet the challenge to bring forward the next generation of firsts, we dedicate this convening of the 56th CAMT 2009 to our future- the best and brightest boys and girls who sit in classrooms across this great state. Their Tomorrow Starts Today- Building a Future takes a Mathematics Foundation, our CAMT 2009 theme captures the essence of what must be accomplished in mathematics education. The CAMT 2009 program goal is to prepare and equip you with the tools and information needed to meet the challenge of educating a generation who live in a world where borders no longer restrain our economies, technologies create new opportunities, and their knowledge and skills base must be broad enough to develop the ability to rethink, retrain, and resolve.

Enjoy all that we have to offer in this great city of Houston as you attend CAMT 2009, but most importantly realize all you have to offer to a boy or girl as you help to build a future. Remember, Their Tomorrow Starts Today- Building a Future takes a Mathematics Foundation! See you at CAMT 2009.
